I create venue illustrations from photographs, either as simple black and white line drawings or more detailed watercolour and pencil pieces. The line work is clean and understated — ideal for invitations, keepsakes or editorial use — while the colour pieces allow for more atmosphere and texture. Architectural details can be surprisingly complex to capture accurately, which makes them challenging to draw, but that’s part of the appeal. When the proportions, perspective and character of a place come together on the page, it’s incredibly satisfying, and I hope my clients agree too!
